TWEETS: Chechnya Is Not Czech Republic

existenti-al:

americans fucking suck god damn it

C’mon this is fuckin embarrassing!!  Get with the program America!!  Every last one of us has Google Maps.  Use that shit!!

We have thought of measures to set up bases and deploy missiles to destroy all these bases in the early minutes after an attack…these [US] bases are all in range of our missiles, and the occupied lands [a reference to Israel] are also good targets for us.

Congressmen Seek To Lift Propaganda Ban

fearandwar:

An amendment that would legalize the use of propaganda on American audiences is being inserted into the latest defense authorization bill, BuzzFeed has learned.

The amendment would “strike the current ban on domestic dissemination” of propaganda material produced by the State Department and the independent Broadcasting Board of Governors, according to the summary of the law at the House Rules Committee’s official website.

The tweak to the bill would essentially neutralize two previous acts—the Smith-Mundt Act of 1948 and Foreign Relations Authorization Act in 1987—that had been passed to protect U.S. audiences from our own government’s misinformation campaigns.

The bi-partisan amendment is sponsored by Rep. Mac Thornberry from Texas and Rep. Adam Smith from Washington State.

In a little noticed press release earlier in the week — buried beneath the other high-profile issues in the $642 billion defense bill, including indefinite detention and a prohibition on gay marriage at military installations — Thornberry warned that in the Internet age, the current law “ties the hands of America’s diplomatic officials, military, and others by inhibiting our ability to effectively communicate in a credible way.”

The bill’s supporters say the informational material used overseas to influence foreign audiences is too good to not use at home, and that new techniques are needed to help fight Al-Qaeda, a borderless enemy whose own propaganda reaches Americans online.

They’re not even trying to hide their authoritarian mindsets anymore, are they?

Well, it worked for the Nazis.  Those guys really had their shit together.

The HPV vaccine is a series of shots that protect against the types of human papillomavirus (HPV) that cause most cases of cervical cancer and genital warts. But a recent study reports that not all girls and young women who start the series get all three injections. In order to be protected, you gotta get all the shots. Click here to learn more about the HPV vaccine.

I’m glad they posted this. I’ve only gotten 2 out of the 3. I need to get on it. But they’re so expensive!

“The guy just stood his head up like that, with a piece of flesh in his mouth, and growled,” Vega said.

Yeah, at first I thought it they were just hoary pop culture jokes, but I’ve becoming pretty convinced we have a real live zombie situation going on in Miami.

Does Reuters play April Fool’s jokes on Memorial Day?  This shit is just straight fucked!

WOAH. House Speaker John Boehner made it clear at his weekly press conference today that he disagrees with President Obama on the issue of gay marriage, and he would not answer the question: Do you feel that gay marriage is a civil rights issue? When asked, Boehner responded:  ”I believe that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, and the president and the democrats can talk about all this all they want.” He added, “The fact is the American people are focused on our economy, and they’re asking the question: Where are the jobs?”
(Via AP YouTube)

It’s like he’s pointing into our souls.

And this is what makes Boehner, a dick.  The economy is a very important issue, but we are a nation, facing many important issues.  We cannot afford to place all of our concern, on one issue.  Gay rights is important to an increasingly large percentage of Americans, and should be given the attention it deserves.
